Today it can be very difficult to find a truly distinctive hairstyle.  There are so many people sporting goth, punk, and emo styles that even if you genuinely like the look, you can feel like you’re just copying your neighbor’s fashion.  Men’s Harajuku hair will bring life back into your tired hairstyle fashion choices as well as give you the liberty to create a look that is uniquely you.

Men’s Harajuku hair was created by the young crowd who hangs around Tokyo’s Harajuku metro station.  This crowd is incredibly heterogeneous and has created a style that blends select elements of most modern styles.  The most important element to remember when creating men’s Harajuku hair is that you should be individualistic.  A true Harajuku hairstyle will not look like anyone else’s.

There are a few other elements in fashion Harajuku hair that should be included to fit within the genre.  First of all, your hair needs to have thick and chunky layers.  A lot of the time they look disheveled, but they are actually artfully created with scissors or thinning shears.  These layers are often longer in the front than they are in the back.  If this isn’t the case, the longer back or side layers should be brushed forward to hang around the face.  Sometimes the front layers create an uneven look so that one of your eyes is covered by your bangs and the other one is kept clear.

The second part of men’s Harajuku hair to keep in mind is contrast.  This can mean that you contrast bleached white hair with your typical all-black clothing ensemble.  It could also mean that you keep your roots dark and dye the tips of your blonde.  Or you could create a two-toned look by dying your hair in a contrasting color combination such as orange and purple.  The contrast can even be created through makeup, face jewelry, or earrings.  As long as you create a contrast the possibilities are endless.
